DOOM SPA is delighted to present the first international solo exhibition by Charlie Lucas.
Charlie Lucas (1951, Alabama) is most typically known for his large-scale sculptures and installations made from recycled scrap metal and other found material. Also known as "The Tin Man”, Lucas describes himself as a self taught artist, deriving his techniques from a combination of passed down familial craft traditions and skills, such as weaving and welding. The works presented in “TV Snacks & a Spirit Box” represent a survey of Lucas’ smaller work, including works from his ongoing painting series “TV Snacks”, as well his series of assemblage works known as “Spirit Boxes”. The exhibition is organised in partnership with hyphae collaborative network and curated by Littleton Odom and Phillip Zach.

DOOM SPA freut sich sehr, die erste internationale Einzelausstellung von Charlie Lucas zu präsentieren.
Charlie Lucas (1951, Alabama) ist vor allem für seine großformatigen Skulpturen und Installationen bekannt, die er aus recyceltem Altmetall und anderen gefundenen Materialien herstellt. Auch unter dem Namen "The Tin Man" bekannt, bezeichnet sich Lucas selbst als Autodidakt, der seine Techniken aus einer Kombination von familiär überlieferten Handwerkstraditionen wie Weben und Schweißen ableitet. Die in "TV Snacks & a Spirit Box" gezeigten Werke stellen einen Überblick über Lucas' kleinformatige Werkserien dar, darunter Arbeiten aus seiner fortlaufenden Gemäldeserie "TV Snacks" sowie einer Serie von Assemblagen, die als "Spirit Boxes" bekannt sind. Die Ausstellung wird in Zusammenarbeit mit hyphae collaborative network organisiert und von Littleton Odom und Phillip Zach kuratiert.
